Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

Activities of basic care that most people perform independently on a daily basis; These include bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring (getting into and out of a bed or chair) and ambulating (walking). The ability to do these activities helps measure a person’s level of independence and the type of care that may be required.

In order to qualify for long-term care benefits, a person must need help with 2 or more ADLs.
